Become a Citizen Scientist

Citizen Science is a process by which both professional and volunteer scientists collaborate to investigate the world around them. Anyone can become a citizen scientist by engaging in scientific research, usually in collaboration with or under the direction of professional scientists and scientific institutions. This type of research helps researchers collect more diverse data more quickly than the professional scientists alone could ever hope to collec, and citizen science volunteers get to spend time working on a fun, meaningful project with like-minded people, learning about the natural world.

There are many citizen science projects related to wildlife and natural resoruces for almost every interest, skill level and age. Volunteers in New Hampshire can participate in cottontail rabbit surveys, eel migration observations, an annual loon census, submitting their wildlife sightings, and much more!
